Minion’s Review: The Spear of Destiny – Marcus Sedgwick
Adina’s BFF Minion will occasionally be dropping by with a guest review. In gratitude I made her a special picture, it’s a little basic but I’m learning 🙂
Doctor Who: The Spear of Destiny – Marcus Sedgwick
Doctor Who Anniversary – Third Doctor
Eleven Doctors, eleven months, eleven stories: a year-long celebration of Doctor Who! The most exciting names in children’s fiction each create their own unique adventure about the time-travelling Time Lord.
The Third Doctor and Jo Grant are trying to track down the magical spear of Odin when they find themselves caught up in a vicious battle between two Viking tribes. But one of the Vikings is even more dangerous than he appears to be. Can the Doctor stop the spear getting into the wrong hands before it’s too late?
The third instalment of Dr. Who 50th Anniversary e-book series is where we meet the 3rd Doctor and his companion Jo. Again I’ve never seen any of the episodes with the 3rd Doctor or Jo, so I looking forward to meeting another Doctor. I wasn’t disappointed. We meet the Doctor, who now “works” for UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce). I never knew that the Doctor was put on Earth by the Council of Time Lords for violations of time. I will be trawling Wikipedia for more on this. It seems I’m learning more and more about the Doctor from every book.
This book has everything; Bessie – the Doctor’s 1920’s car, the Vikings, the 1970’s, the Brigadier and we meet an old nemesis of the Doctor.
The Doctor and Jo must travel back in time to the Viking era to stop the Spear of Density for getting into the wrong hands. All is not what it seems, The Doctor and Jo face peril at every turn and not just from the Vikings. This Doctor is one of action he seems so different from the previous two regenerations. Again for me these stories are so short and I want to spend more time with the Doctor and Jo.
This is a real page turner or should I say e-book turner…Now to meet the 4th Doctor…
