Waiting on Wednesday: Wood Sprites

April 16, 2014

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Like a crazy fangirl, I haunt the Baen website for any sign of an early eARC of Wood Sprites, the fouth book in Wen Spencer’s Tinker series. I simply cannot wait to read – it’s is one of my all-time favourite series. The blurb is fantastic and I’m eager to catch up with Tinker, Pony and all the gang. Mayhem is guaranteed!

Ignore the truely terrible cover – all the Tinker book to date have been saddled with atricious covers. At this stage, I think the artists are trying to outdo each other 🙂

Even though they attend a school of gifted students in New York City, child geniuses Louise Mayer and her twin sister Jillian have always felt alone in the world, isolated by their brilliance. Shortly before their ninth birthday, they make an amazing discovery. They’re not alone.

Their real mother was astronaut Esme Shenske and their father was the famous inventor, Leonardo Dufae. They have an older sister, Alexander, living on the planet of Elfhome, and four siblings still in cryogenic storage at the fertility center. There’s only one problem: the frozen embryos are scheduled to be destroyed within six months. The race is on to save their baby brother and sisters.

As a war breaks out on Elfhome and riots start in New York City, the twins use science and magic to plow over everything standing in their way. But when they come face to face with an ancient evil force, they’re soon in over their heads in danger.

Ha. Spot on, the cover does look like something from the 80’s. Especially the mullets 🙂

The cover is….a little different. Gotta love the mullets lol. I’ve never read this series before but it does sound like it would be lots of fun. Enjoy it when you read it! Thanks for stopping by my WoW post. 🙂

I’m not familiar with this series, but I hope you love this one as much as the others! I have to agree that that is one horrible cover, though. Lol.
